Sigillet Express Overview

When accuracy counts

Digital Seal. A digital seal is used to check that a file has not been modified. The seal is produced with advanced algorithms, Sigillet or HMAC, and added to the protected file. The data, together with a unique key, is used in the algorithm. The unique key is distriuted to each user who will send sealed files. Sigillet has been used by Bankgirot since 1981. PlusGirot and major Swedish banks, such as Swedbank and Nordea, also use it. It is furthermore used by the Swedish Customs.


Functionality. Sigillet Xpress is a program which is ready to be used within minutes after a simple installation. Sigillet Xpress do not require any programming since it works with files. Unprotected files are sealed in a very secure process which is operated by java program or script calls.

Usage
  • Sigillet Xpress is foremost used to protect
    • file transactions to the Swedish customs, Bankgirot, Plusgirot and to many banks
  • Bankgiro file layouts for autogiro, salaries and supplier-payments are supported beside other file layouts such as invoice and the new direct debit
  • All Plusgiro file types are supported
The Algorithm. Sigillet is an algorithm with excellent performance. Sigillet has also many advantages over similar methods. You can produce sub-seals and Sigillet can be used for both binary data and ordinary text-data. The interface for textdata is suitable for datacommunication, especially between different kinds of computers with different operatingsystems. Only the important characters are checked. Sigillet, compared to similar methods, is specially designed for monetary transactions. The algorithm takes into consideration that ‘0’ is the most frequently used digit and spaces are the most common character.
